First time back in St Ives since we won the CFJ Aw

First time back in St Ives since we won the CFJ Award last week and reflecting that in many ways this is the heart of the business and its base for many years since 2001. Although now split between here and Hove it was out of St Ives that the business grew covering all of Cornwall and from 2020, Sussex.

It’s still a view that inspires and helps us stay motivated. Can’t even begin to guess how many properties we have worked in with a one mile radius of that view (even with most of it at sea!)

When you have been in the business for over 26 years getting an accolade like this shows that we still know our onions!

There’s a lot more than this ‘before & after’. This project involved laying one floor with reclaimed and this particular room with many of the original boards and one from else where in the house. Left with a dead matt finish with a touch of whitener for that contemporary touch.

Used regularly as a yoga study and for other uses it’s still looking in pristine condition over 3 years later. It’s the difference you get when you have a professional company consult and carry out the works. It’s what we have been doing for over 25 years.

These before & afters are of some netlofts in Newl

These before & afters are of some netlofts in Newlyn that were being converted. The brief was as little intervention as possible, so no filling holes or nail heads etc, but a darker stain to blend in all the original oil stains over the last almost 200 years. Finished in oil as well as moisture content relatively high and this would allow the floor to breath and ‘dry out’ with use. For those wondering about the spray bottle, it’s used to ‘water pop’ a floor so when you stain/add colour you get a deeper take and richer look. Happy clients.

This is our next project. About to start 100sqm of floors in old fisherman’s lofts in Newlyn one of the oldest and biggest fishing ports in the UK. The building is about 200 years old and after consultation we are trying to restore the floors whilst keeping the character and its history. Updates to follow.

For this floor we added a ‘touch’ of white, to balance out the ‘amber’ tones with a dead Matt finish to create a fresh feel. Swipe for the after…

Our high-end floor sanding, fitting, restoration & finishing business is looking for an experienced Wood Floor Restorer covering Cornwall. Established over 25 years with a well earned reputation for quality work, we work with a range of clients including homeowners, holiday let companies and commercial. The ideal candidate will have minimum 2 years experience in high quality wood floor restoration, experienced in using a range of sanding equipment from Bona and Lagler. Work is on-site throughout Cornwall. Due to the physical nature of the work and the handling of heavy machinery you will need to be fit and physically active.

You will be supported and managed but will need to be able to work independently and occasionally with a team member. You will need to manage your own time and be a self-starter. The candidate must be smart with good interpersonal skills as you will often be customer facing representing the company.

We offer a competitive salary subject to experience, pension contribution, uniform and a fully equipped van (after satisfactory probationary period).

If relocating, we can assist with accommodation until mid-March.

This is one where all the tiles were made by one of Britain’s most famous potters Bernard Leach. This is a priceless and very rare item and when you are sanding the floors right up to the edge, it’s not a job for an apprentice!! 😂😂
